Save the date for conference on Legal Challenges in Israeli Policy and Advocacy

The Israeli Consulate in New York and the Office of the Legal Advisor at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the American Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists (AAJLJ), will hold an international Conference on Legal Challenges in Israeli Policy and Advocacy, on June 27-28, in New York. Discussions will focus on:
  • Law and Security: the legal framework in the fight against terrorism; operational dilemmas; methods of investigation
  • International institutions: challenges facing Israel within the United Nations system; the international legal sphere and the US Legal system
  • Law and advocacy: responding to campaigns of delegitimization and "Iawfare"; taking the legal initiative; presenting Israel's case and advancing informed discussion
  • Key issues in Israel-Palestinian negotiations: updates and insights from Israel's negotiations with its neighbors
In the course of the Conference, participants will have a unique opportunity to hear from legal experts from the Israel legal system, the military, the foreign service and academia, as well as legal experts from the U.S. The speakers will address the latest developments in the topic areas and share their experience and expertise with participants. The conference will also include working group sessions, during which participants will pool resources and develop a plan of action. The Conference is intended for US lawyers in private practice, or in the public sector or academia, concerned about the current challenges faced by Israel in the international legal sphere. The goal of the conference is to provide the background and analysis that will enable the participants to engage in informed debate and advocacy about Israel as legal advocates and as spokespersons in the participants' spheres of activity and influence. Participation will be by invitation only and space will be limited.
  • All costs of participation in the Conference, including full board and lodging will be covered. Participants will be required to pay for their own transportation to New York.
  • All details, including how to register, will follow shortly
  • CLE Credits will be available for New York. Other states under consideration.
