Jacqueline Stephens Breisch joins Schiller DuCanto & Fleck's Lake Forest office

Jacqueline Stephens BreischThe law firm of Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP announces the addition of Jacqueline Stephens Breisch as a new associate in the Lake Forest office. She has extensive experience in family law cases involving custody, maintenance, child support, property division, and finding creative solutions to deal with complex financial matters associated with divorce.

A child of divorce and an older sister to six half-siblings from both her parents’ second marriages, Breisch understands first-hand what it means to be a “modern family” and the increasing challenges facing divorcing couples.

“It is an incredibly exciting time to be a family law attorney. As social norms continue to change and family dynamics become increasingly complex, so does the divorce process and related issues. Schiller DuCanto & Fleck is the leader in the practice of family law and I am honored to be part of a firm who continues to be an innovator in this area,” said Breisch. “I believe in the collaborative, team approach they bring to each case. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with a group of such well-respected attorneys.”

The firm of Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP is the largest family law firm of its kind in the country. It is internationally recognized as a model for firms practicing in family law and primarily focusing on solving affluent clients’ problems to achieve the best possible results. Its mission of ensuring quality, knowledge and experience to clients is evident through numerous awards, including being named as one of the best law firms in 2011-2014 by U.S. News & World Report. It is also recognized as having outstanding lawyers in peer ratings and publications such as Best Lawyers in America and Law Dragon Top 500.

“Jacqueline is a driven, young litigator and her fresh perspective will make her a great addition to Schiller DuCanto & Fleck,” said founding partner Don Schiller. “Jacqueline’s passion and experience with financial and custody issues will serve our clients well. She understands the importance of providing individualized attention to every case and reassuring clients through one of the most difficult times of their lives. We want to congratulate her and welcome her to the team.”

Breisch’s parents divorced when she was three years old and growing up going between two homes had a lasting impact on her, inspiring her decision to pursue a career in family law. She uses her own experience and perspective to help advocate for her clients and help divorcing couples focus on making decisions that are in the best interest of their children.

“I understand what it is like to be on the other side of the divorce process. I was the subject of a custody battle as a child and my parents were a positive model for how to co-parent post divorce,” said Breisch. “I am passionate about using my expertise to ensure the best results for my clients as well as their children, who do not have an active role in the decisions made during the divorce process that greatly impacts them.”

The Rosemont native recently moved back to her hometown where she has long-time family connections to the community. Her grandfather, Donald E. Stephens, was the founding mayor of Rosemont and served for nearly fifty years. Her uncle, Brad Stephens, took over the position in 2007 and is the current mayor. She was raised with a strong sense of community pride and commitment, and remaining in the area was very important to Breisch so she can continue her family’s tradition of dedication and public service. However, she wanted to make a name for herself and pursue her legal career. She is looking forward to joining Schiller DuCanto & Fleck’s Lake Forest office and becoming more involved in the local and legal communities.

Breisch received her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and later earned her J.D. from Loyola University’s School of Law, also earning a Certificate in Child & Family Law.

Breisch is a member of the Lake County Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. For the past three years she served as the managing editor of the Illinois Divorce Digest. The Digest was started in the 1980's as a print publication and was revived in 2011 as an online subscription-based magazine. Each month, the Digest reports on 10 cases from the Circuit Court of Cook, DuPage, Lake and the surrounding counties.
