Ethics Question of the Week: Can I wear a shirt with my firm’s logo during a TV appearance?

Q.  May I wear a shirt with my firm’s logo on it during a television appearance?

A. Illinois Rule of Professional Conduct 7.1 allows a lawyer to advertise as long as that advertisement is not false or misleading. Rule 7.2(a) allows a lawyer to advertise through written, recorded or electronic communication, including public media. For a further discussion, see ISBA Ethics Opinion 14-06.
