CLE: Creatively Resolving Disputes for Special Education Hearings under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act

Join us in Chicago or via live webcast on March 18, 2015 to learn how you can effectively resolve disputes for your clients instead of incurring the expense of a hearing with this informative half-day seminar! Alternative dispute attorneys, education law practitioners, family law lawyers, and child law attorneys with intermediate practice experience who attend this seminar will receive information on the statutorily-required use of dispute mechanisms prior to a due process hearing, as well as a better understanding of: how state and federal laws protect individuals with disabilities by ensuring an education that is tailored to their needs; the pros and cons of each dispute resolution option from the perspective of both the student and the school district; strategies for resolving antagonistic disputes; the techniques and processes that have worked best according to two Impartial Due Process Hearing Officers; and real world case examples that have had the most successful resolution outcomes.

The seminar is presented by the ISBA Alternative Dispute Resolution Section and co-sponsored by the ISBA Administrative Law Section, ISBA Child Law Section, ISBA Education Law Section, ISBA Family Law Section, and the Standing Committee on Disability Law. The program qualifies for 4.0 hours MCLE credit, including 3.50 hours Professional Responsibility MCLE credit (subject to approval).
