Jenner & Block elects Slachetka as Partner

Michele Slachetka​Jenner & Block, a law firm with global reach, has elected 18 lawyers to the partnership, effective January 1, 2016. The new partners include Michele L. Slachetka in Chicago.

Michele Slachetka represents public and privately held companies in a wide range of matters including civil litigation involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, fraud and insurance claims, bankruptcy litigation, as well as in mediation and arbitration proceedings. In recent years, she has represented several large public companies in internal investigations and investigations initiated by the United States Department of Justice. She has significant experience in the area of attorney-client privilege and co-edits the firm’s privilege outline, Protecting Confidential Legal Information: A Handbook for Analyzing Issues Under the Attorney-Client Privilege and the Work-Product Doctrine

As part of her pro bono practice, Ms. Slachetka has successfully represented an inmate at trial in federal court and has represented non-profit organizations in state court proceedings and in filing for tax-exempt status with the IRS. She maintains an active practice on behalf of clients seeking asylum before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Immigration Court, and Board of Immigration Appeals. In 2014, she was recognized as a “Rising Star” by the National Immigrant Justice Center for her commitment to ensuring access to justice for immigrants. Ms. Slachetka graduated with comprehensive honors from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and received her law degree, Order of the Coif, from the College of William and Mary School of Law, where she was a member of the William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal.
