Lawrence B Brodsky 1934-2016

Lawrence B Brodsky JD, born August 1, 1934, died April 15, 2016, age 81.

Mr. Brodsky concentrated his practice in the area of real estate assessments and tax exemptions. He had extensive experience in representing a variety of commercial, industrial and multi-residential property owners. Mr. Brodsky served in the Civil Division of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office for fifteen years where he was Supervisor of the Real Estate Tax Section. He had been lead counsel in numerous tax trials.

Mr. Brodsky frequently wrote and lectured on real estate taxation issues. He is the author of the chapter "Tax Objection Complaints" for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education's publication "Real Estate Taxation." Mr. Brodsky was a member of the Chicago Bar Association's Real Estate Taxation Committee and a member of American, Illinois State and Chicago Bar Associations. He received his B.A. and J.D. degrees from DePaul University.

What the “bio” doesn’t share with the audience was the fact that Larry had a severe disability - - Cerebral Palsy. It severely limited his mobility and affected his speech as well. Larry was a fighter however. He never complained about his disability, even when he grimaced because he didn’t feel all that great. To know him was a joy. To practice with him, an honor. He was a Cub fan to the bitter end, and like many, unfortunate not to have experienced a World Series victory during his time on earth.
