John T. Bullington 1918-2016

John T. BullingtonJohn T. Bullington, 98, of Hillsboro died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 at 1:34 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

He was born on July 3, 1918 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Josiah T. and Mary Theresa (Thompson) Bullington. A graduate of Hillsboro High School and University of Illinois Law School, he served with the Army during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge and then as a JAG during the Korean Conflict.

On March 14, 1942, he married Anne Burnett at Villa Grove and she preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 1992. He married Rose Johnson in 1993, and she also preceded him in death.

A lifetime resident of Hillsboro, he began working as an attorney with Bullington & Bullington Law Firm in Hillsboro, retiring after 50 years. He was a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four children, Tom Bullington of North Carolina, Jill (husband Jim) Conway of Hillsboro, Pam Bullington (husband Bill Nettlehorst) of Fond du Lac, WI and Joan (husband Mike) Lawson of Monticello; five grandchildren, Aimee Walter, Anjee Glorioso, Ally Lawson, Ashley Mayo and Scott Johnson; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Jane Beatty of Kansas City, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives and two sisters, Rosina Ducrest and Josephine Schindler.

Services have been held.
