Law Students

ISBA attended Chicago-Kent College of Law's student organization fair yesterday, August 29, to speak with current law students about the benefits of membership. Law students can become student members of ISBA for free for up to four years of law school, which includes access to Fastcase, E-Clips, the Illinois Bar Journal, and more.

With law schools ramping up for the fall semester, ISBA will be visiting other Chicago-area law schools in the upcoming weeks.

The Illinois Supreme Court announced Thursday changes to a rule that will slightly modify the deadlines to apply to take the Illinois bar examination.

The amendments to Supreme Court Rule 706, which governs the filing deadlines and fees to take the bar exam, will take effect July 1, 2016. The fees will not change under the rule amendment.

Under the amended rule, the on-time deadline to apply to take the February bar exam will be extended by approximately two weeks, from September 1 to September 15, and the final late deadline to apply for the February and July exams will be moved up by two weeks, from December 31 to December 15, and May 31 to May 15, respectively.

On the Evening of March 19, 2015, five alumni of the University of DePaul College of Law engaged in honest and practical conversations with current law students on the realities of practicing law. The students left this event feeling better suited to enter the approaching summer job market.
